What is a Deep Plane Facelift?
A deep plane facelift targets the layer beneath the skin, known as the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, or SMAS. By carefully releasing and repositioning this deeper layer, the surgeon is able to address sagging in the cheeks, jawline, and neck at its true source.
Unlike traditional facelifts, which may only tighten the skin, a deep plane facelift creates a more natural result, avoiding the stretched look sometimes associated with earlier techniques. It also allows for better restoration of midface volume, giving the cheeks a youthful fullness while refining the jawline and neck.
