Travel For Surgery

Annapolis, MD, is home to beautiful 18th-century architecture, historic U.S. landmarks, and unforgettable scenery right on Chesapeake Bay. The capital city of Maryland remains a favorite among travelers for its attractions, rich history, and proximity to both Baltimore (10 minutes by train) and Washington, D.C. (35 minutes by train). If you’re traveling from out of town to work with Dr. Wachel, rest assured that your visit will be filled not only with the excitement of your procedure, but also with great food, activities in every direction, and peak relaxation with a perfect waterfront view.

Arrival

Depending on where you’re traveling from and where you would like to spend the bulk of your trip, we recommend two different airport options: LEE Airport – ANP or Baltimore/Washington International Airport – BWI. If you’re considering a short visit or simply aren’t interested in taking the train, LEE Airport, right in Annapolis, is likely the best option for you. It’s a smaller airport, meaning less hubbub and shorter travel. However, if you’re traveling internationally or plan to spend most of your trip in Baltimore, the Baltimore/Washington International Airport may be a better fit.

Hotels

When recovering from surgery, you deserve nothing but the absolute best atmosphere, and our recommendations reflect that sentiment. From options such as the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel with a perfect view of the water, sailboats, and scenery that makes Annapolis so unique, to the boutique Pendry in Baltimore, in the city’s most bustling area, there are options for everyone’s taste. These hotels are among the highest-rated in the area and feature spas, bars, and restaurants to make your recovery as enjoyable as possible.

Culinary Highlights

Some say the most exciting part of traveling is the food: trying local restaurants, cuisines you may have never experienced, and enjoying the atmosphere that comes with it. Depending on what you’re in the mood for, our recommendations extend from Michelin Star fine dining, such as Cafe Riggs in Washington, D.C., to local hotspot Sailor Oyster Bar in Annapolis, known for its fresh seafood, right from the bay. Regardless of your tastes, many options extend from D.C. to Annapolis to Baltimore, so you can have exactly what you’re looking for.

Local Highlights

Another way you can make the most of your trip is by visiting some local attractions. Once you’re at a point in your recovery where you feel comfortable going out, we highly recommend seeing exactly what Annapolis is known for. For those of you who love history, consider visiting the Paca House and Garden Tours. This relaxing atmosphere is literally home to the 4th signer of the Declaration of Independence, William Paca. If you’re interested in getting some shopping done, our lively main street runs parallel to the water, with 18th-century historic buildings, local shops, and a great nightlife scene. You’ll also find fine art galleries, restaurants, and historic murals on your walk.
